The Israeli agricultural sector has acquired real technological expertise in terms of farming in arid environments and water management, which it has already been offering to African countries for a long time. Israeli Agriculture represents 2.5% of GDP and 3.6% of exports, with an agricultural population representing only 3.7% of the active population. Israel is a major exporter of fresh produce and a leader in agricultural technology, despite the arid climate not conducive to agriculture. More than half of the country is desert, with climate and lack of water being concerns across the region. In this context, food self-sufficiency is imperative. Israel is 95% self-sufficient for its own food needs, which are supplemented by imports of grains, oilseeds, meats, coffee, cocoa and sugar. Israeli agriculture is characterized by the presence of two types of agricultural communities, the kibbutz and the moshav.

The successes of Israeli research and innovation in agribusiness are exported around the world.

In Africa 50% of the active population is in the agricultural sector with a food import of 70% of its needs
